If you have ever considered investment in US real estate, you may have heard “properties in US are too expensive and beyond your reach” or “you might be deceived and real estate investment would cause you nothing but harms and troubles.” After all, you may want to conclude that buying an investment property in a foreign country is too risky. You just give up becoming a “remote” landlord.
I am a Japanese male in my early 60’s and not a seasoned real estate investor. Based on my experiences, I would say that real estate investment in US is not impossible if you have a general sense of business and a good command of English. It was 2013 when I bought a condo in Waikiki of Honolulu, Hawaii. The purpose was to get a place for my future vacation with my wife on the paradise island.
